Another Favorite of Ours!
Finely carved from Sese Wood. The Sankofa symbol means to go back to one's roots and to learn from the past, and is conveyed through the symbolism of a bird. These represent part of the symbols of the people of Ghana. The origins of Adrinkra symbolism can be traced back to the Asante people who, around the 19th century, developed this unique print form on cloth, and has been widely adapted in the modern idiom, for example..tattoos.
